Christmas Carol: Joy to the World

Our Gladys series for Storynory was one of our hits of 2014 with songs like Snap Me! and Ghost Girl getting you on your feet. If you liked those songs, you are going to love Gladys’s 2014 Christmas carol.

We thought last year’s Carol, was beautiful, but perhaps it wasn’t quite zippy enough for Storynory. We’ve made up for it this year. This version of Joy to the World is very, very upbeat and joyful. Even if you are feeling miserable, this should put a smile on your face. Sing along, clap your hands, get up and boogie!

Sung by Gabriella Burnel aka Gladys for Storynory.
Backing Vocals by Nikki Davison.
Arranged and produced by Joe Davison of Auburn Jam.
Illustration by Chiara Civati.

Words by English hymn writer Isaac Watts, based on Psalm 98 in the Bible. First published in 1719.

The music is believed to be by George Frederick Handel.

Joy to the World , the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven, and Heaven, and nature sing.

Joy to the World, the Savior reigns!
Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy.
